I typed this post using the Tot app and my new Logitech Keys-To-Go 2 keyboard with my iPhone. It’s flat as hell, but the keys aren’t bad at all. They’re pretty shallow compared to my mechanical keyboard, but they have more travel than the Apple keyboard I use at work and at home. It’s small and lightweight, and it’s still comfortable to type on. That’s especially true when my only other choice is the iPhone’s on-screen keyboard.
What I love about it 🧳
- Textured keys: The keys have a slightly rough texture, which I actually like. Typing on them feels more tactile.
- The magnetic cover: It works really well. The keyboard looks sleek when it’s closed, and the cover keeps the keys from getting pressed by accident (and possibly damaged) when it’s packed in my bag.
- The on/off switch: At first I thought the switch was a flaw because I figured I’d forget to turn it off. I haven’t forgotten yet, and now it’s just part of my routine. Even if I do forget, the cover keeps the keys from being pressed.
- Battery life: It runs on replaceable coin cell batteries, so I never have to charge it. Logitech says they last up to three years if you type about two hours a day. Add the off switch to that and I don’t expect to think about batteries for a long time.
- Multi-device pairing: It pairs with up to three Bluetooth devices, like my iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and I can switch between them with the press of a key.
What I’m still getting used to
The keys feel a little firmer than I’m used to, and my ring finger and pinky are still adjusting. I’ve been making some typos, but that’s on me, not the keyboard. Next, I’m going to fold the cover under the keyboard to tilt it up a bit and see if that helps.
Could I use this keyboard for long stretches? Probably, but not as long as my mechanical keyboard at home. That’s not really what it’s for, though. It’s built to be portable and easy to pack, and it does that really well.
Is it worth it?
So far, yes. I wrote this whole post on it, and I’m glad I bought it, especially since I got it on sale during Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days. At full price, it never made it past my wishlist.
