Finished Listening to…: My First Summer in the Sierra by John Muir π
This was my first John Muir book, and it was a good one. It’s his journal from the summer of 1869, when he spent about four months in California’s Sierra Nevada with a shepherd and a flock of sheep. He describes everything he sees in careful detail, right down to the scientific names of the plants and animals. My favorite parts, though, are when he talks about the landscapes around him and the sense of freedom he feels out there. It was nice to sit back, close my eyes, and picture it all.
