Three App Store screenshots of a handwriting note-taking app for iPhone and iPad. The first shows a handwritten to-do list titled 'To Do Today' with the items 'App Store screenshots,' 'IAP testing,' 'Send TestFlight invitations,' and 'Take a walk. It's really nice today.' The second reads: 'Draw the entire interface in your own handwriting! Make a font with your handwriting, then use it to quickly type notes on the go! Mix doodles and Apple Pencil sketches anywhere, and sync between all of your devices!' next to a small ghost doodle. The third reads: 'Almost everything is free and unlimited! No ads! No subscriptions! No accounts! You can buy more colors, pen sizes, and page templates if you'd like.'

I am really liking Marco Arment’s new Fineliner iOS app. It has been fun to use from the beginning and I have not stopped playing with it for any long period of time since I downloaded. The crazy part is that I don’t even have an iPhone Duo. I am using it on my iPhone 17 Pro Max and writing on it with my index finger. I tried it on my iPad, but it is a no-go there. It is clearly not designed for it, but I wanted to try it anyway, so I could us my pencil with it. Much better experience on my phone. It is like having a pocket notebook to use during the day. Sure, it does not compete against my Field Notes, but it is close and it syncs across iCloud, so that is definitely a plus. I am sure it will only get better from here.

By the way, it is free with some optional in-app purchases. You can use it with all the essentials out of the box.
